According to new documents filed in the Britney Spears conservatorship battle, the pop star has no desire to perform
For over a decade, Britney Spears has been under conservatorship, meaning that every aspect of her life — ranging from personal to professional — is managed by someone else. Spears has been challenging her conservatorship, spawning the #FreeBritney movement. From 2008-2019, her father, Jamie Spears, shared co-conservatorship with Andrew Wallet. However, Since 2019, her dad has been handling her matters exclusively. Now, her father is requesting that Wallet enter back into the conservatorship with him, something Britney is not at all on board for. According to court documents she feels as though she can’t even afford him, due to the fact that she “does not desire” to perform anymore.
According to documents obtained by ET, the 38-year-old isn’t planning on taking the stage in the near future, which challenges her ability to pay Wallet for his services.

“To this date, Britney has not resumed performing and has stated that she does not desire to do so at this time,” the docs read. Additionally, they maintain that Andrew is “uniquely unsuitable” for the role of conservator. They also claim that her father’s request was made “an hour before the last hearing” — following a denial “for months that any structural change” to the conservatorship was needed. Allegedly the request was made because “Britney’s decision not to perform will require him to undertake drastic changes to her budget.”
“Apparently this frugality does not extend to the fees James pays from the conservatorship to the financial professionals with whom he surrounds himself,” the docs read. “Apart from the fact that Mr. Wallet has been extremely expensive in the past, based on what occurred over the 11 years he served as her co-conservator, there is no reason to believe that Mr. Wallet will be able to work with Britney to explain and implement any difficult budgetary choices that must be made.”
It explains that Britney “continues to move in the direction of greater autonomy,” so her preference is “to work with a corporate fiduciary who can offer both a physical office and a team of independent financial professionals rather than a single individual, hand-picked by her father, who is a complete stranger to her.”
Britney is now petitioning to appoint Bessemer Trust Company of California as conservator of the estate with the support of her mother, Lynne Spears.
ET obtained additional documents in which Britney’s father claims that her objections to the suggested appointment “are full of factual misstatements.”

I wanted to say hi, because things that are being said have just gotten out of control!!! Wow!!! There’s rumors, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said. I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that’s happening is just making it harder for me. Don’t believe everything you read and hear. These fake emails everywhere were crafted by Sam Lutfi years ago… I did not write them. He was pretending to be me and communicating with my team with a fake email address. My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment 🌸🌸🌸 You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want! Your love and dedication is amazing, but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way. If you could do that, I would be forever grateful. Love you ❤️❤️❤️
